Community Guidelines
And Code of Conduct

Last Updated: June 2026

Our Mission & Values

Our community is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and mutual growth. We are a diverse group of mentors and individuals committed to psychoanalytically-informed dialogue and supportive connection.

Safety:

Everyone has the right to participate fully and openly, free from harm or harassment. An open, inquisitive atmosphere is a pre-requisite for a healthy organization.

Respect:

We treat all members with dignity, regardless of their background, identity, or perspective. Disagreement is no excuse for poor manners.

Confidentiality:

The privacy of our members and the information shared within our community is paramount .

Professionalism:

We conduct ourselves with integrity, honesty, and accountability in all interactions.

Our core values are:

Standards of Conduct

We expect all members to adhere to the following principles:

1. General Behavior

  • Be Welcoming & Kind: We support people of all backgrounds and identities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.

  • Be Considerate: Remember that we are an international community. Your words and actions have an impact on others. Communicate in a way that considers the diverse perspectives of our members.

  • Be Professional: This is a professional space. Avoid personal attacks, insults, and derogatory comments.

2. Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and will result in action being taken:

  • Harassment & Bullying: This includes threatening, intimidating, or demeaning others. It encompasses any behavior that makes a person feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or humiliated.

  • Discrimination & Hate Speech: Any content or communication that attacks or uses pejorative language with reference to a person or group based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender, or other identity factor is forbidden.

  • Sexual Harassment: This includes unwelcome sexual advances, sexually suggestive comments, or any form of sexual misconduct.

  • Doxing & Privacy Violations: Publishing another person's private information (e.g., home address, email, phone number) without their explicit permission is strictly forbidden.

  • Spam & Solicitation: Do not use the community to promote goods or services in which you have a financial interest, unless specifically permitted in designated channels.

Specific Rules for Mentors & Mentees

For Mentors:

  • Act in the Mentee's Best Interest: You are here to support, not to further your own interests. Avoid any conflicts of interest.

  • Confidentiality: Keep all details of your communications with your mentee confidential. Do not share their personal information or struggles with third parties without their explicit permission.

  • Qualified Advice: Provide advice only on topics in which you have professional knowledge and experience. You must not provide medical, mental-health, or legal advice unless you are acting in that capacity and it is within the scope of the mentorship program.

  • Fees & Business: You are a volunteer and may not charge for mentorship. Do not pursue a business relationship that is not mutually beneficial.

For Mentees:

  • Ultimate Responsibility: You are responsible for your own actions. The guidance from your mentor is a suggestion, not a directive.

  • Be Open & Honest: To get the most out of this relationship, communicate openly with your mentor about your goals and struggles.

  • Respect the Mentor's Boundaries: If your mentor expresses discomfort discussing a topic, drop the subject.

  • Confidentiality: Do not disclose the personal details of your mentor or your communications with them to third parties.
